Kolbys Birthday Party

Kolby turned 6 on January 16, 2009. He wanted to have a super hero party for his birthday so I got to work. We invited 12 people to his party b/c he didn't want to leave any one out. They all came dressed in super hero costumes. Kolby was excited about being batman prior to the party but at the last minute changed his mind and wanted to dress up as a "good" star wars clone. When I asked why he said that his friend Jack said that batman has a girl friend. Then he proceeded to tell me that it was his birthday and he could dress up how ever he wanted. ahh 6 year-olds. They 1st played a game that we taped a super hero on their back and they had to ask questions to find out who they were. Then we threw batman disks in a bowl. Next a super hero limbo, and what would a super hero party be like if they didn't have to save the day with all of their super powers-so we had a surprise visit from The Joker. As you can tell from the pictures the good guys always win. He opened presents, from us he got a bike and a robot and Shelby and Cooper gave him a batman DVD. He couldn't have been happier. Then we dove into a totally awesome super hero cake after signing happy birthday cha cha cha. Once all the super hero's went home we had Kolby's requested dinner, hamburgers and potato salad. A terrific day for a terrific boy. We decided to continue the birthday celebration on Saturday as well by going swiming at the Legacy Center with all the kids. All the kids sure love that pool! It was a fun way to end Kolby's birthday this year. Kolby is such a good boy with a huge heart, he is special and we love him very much.

My husband, my hero

January 2009, I have had a terrible cold for one week and its going into my sinus's now. Casey took me to a BYU basketball game on the 3rd so we got a babysitter and away we went. I haven't been to a b-ball game there for a long time. We were on the top row and it was an oven. The game was fun to watch but when it was over I couldn't run for the door fast enough. We couldn't wait to get out in the cold. When we got home at around 9:30pm Shelby was the only one of our kids in bed asleep. Kolby had thrown up in bed and the babysitter had him watching a movie and for some reason had Cooper on own bed trying to get him to go to sleep. I felt bad for the poor sitter & for our extremely tired kids. Cas and Shelby went to church the next day but the rest of us stayed home sick. Then Monday I kept Kolby home from school. I called my OB and asked them to perscribe me a perscription for my sinus infection and she told me that I have to have the infection for 2 weeks and just keep taking sudefead or tylenol and to do the netty pot. At this point I already wasn't sleeping the medicine made me sick and to hear I had to be like that another week and Casey was going away to Tennesse for business for 3 days, I started crying. The nurse said oh, honey you aren't getting any sleep, I said while blubbering,"I'm just fine goodbye." That night was the worst night ever, I don't think I have ever been that sick before. The infection went into my ears and I was fevering. I spent the night on the bathroom floor sicker then a dog. Though I told Casey I would be fine and he should go on this trip he refused and at 5am went to meet the others to tell them he wasn't going and when he got back I said I don't care where I go but I need to go to the Doctor now. We called the kids Ears Doc. @ 6am, he told us to go in and he would send someone in b/c he was in surgery that day. He said my ears was obviously infected and swollen, with several perscriptions in hand we left the office. And for the rest of the day I was completely out of it. I said I was dillusional & Casey says stoned. I'm finally feeling better but I still can't fully hear b/c they couldn't give me all the perscribtions they would normally since I'm pregnant he said the swelling would take longer to go down. So my ear just feels plugged on one side mostly. Thanks to Casey me and the kids are alive to tell about it. He truely is my hero for several days he stayed by my side and nursed me back to health and took care of sick kids too. He's simply amazing.

A Happy New Year

On new years eve we went to Jimmy and Laurel Garrett's a neighbors house to PARTY! We ate and visited and counted down early so the kids could go to bed. Once we got the kids home and in bed Casey and I played games (which I won) and watched a movie and though we are getting up there in age we were able to keep awake for the ringing in of the new year. We had a good time and are still trying to make all of our new year resolutions. I have a long list that I am trying to cut down to a most important list or other wise known as a more do able list and Casey has yet to voice any of his yet (which means he just wants me to tell him mine so he can cheat & say oh that's what I was thinking too). The New Year is just such a great time to start fresh and better oneself in every way spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. See why my list is so long. I feel 2009 will be a good year and a lot of stuff will be happening too. What with the baby and a possible move as well.

Our Grandpa Lynn Bradshaw

On December 16 2008 we made a trip to Idaho to pay our respects to Grandpa Lynn Bradshaw. The funeral was on the 17th. It is sad to think that we will not see him again when we go to Rupert to visit. He was always a happy person who loved being outdoors and working with his cattle. Going to the "feedlot" will not be the same knowing that their are no cows there that are grandpa's. We will greatly miss him, but also know that he is in a better place where he will not have to suffer anymore. It was fun to listen to the stories about Grandpa and some of the things he did and said. He was someone who spoke his mind and didn't care about what people thought, though he had his own way of making you feel special. He was also an extremely caring and honest man. It was also fun to see some family who we have not seen for a long time. It is sad that it takes a funeral to bring us all together, but thats how it goes. We will miss him greatly, but look forward to the day we see him again.

Christmas parties & Christmas Day

On Dec. 11th was Shelby's Joy school Christmas program. They performed they nativity story from Luke 2. It was at our house and I was in charge of the lessons prior to the program. whew was I glad to have this set of lessons behind me. It was fun seeing them all perform the story and sing their songs. Shelby was the cutest Mary I have ever seen. She loves to perform unlike the little angel Camille who all the sudden had a bad case of stage fright. All and All it went very well and I was a proud mom and teacher.

December 22nd my Mom came and stayed for a few days while her husband had knee surgery. Before she was able to get her hair done I put her to work helping me get ready for Christmas. It was fun having her here and it the kids had fun spending time with Grandma Janice.

On Christmas eve, we went to my sister Gwen's for a family Christmas party. Once again she went all out and put on a good spread. We walked away full and happy. We had a Christmas program this year where every family had to participate in either telling a Christmas story or singing songs. After the Christmas party we had more family vistors come stay at our house. My dad, Ivan and his wife, Julie came for Christmas this year and it was lots of fun to have them. Casey was also glad that my dad was here to help him put together some of the presents. The kids were real excited for Santa to come, especially Kolby. He did not want to go to sleep. He said he was too excited to close his eyes ,he also kept saying he thought he could hear Santa and has he come yet. Finally they were all asleep and Santa did come. Though they did not go to bed on time they certainly did not sleep in at all. They were up early and very excited. After checking out their stockings they came running into our room, "mom, dad guess what Santa came!!!" We hurried and ate our traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs and cinnamon/orange rolls and opened presents. We were all spoiled this year and it was very fun.

I think Dad and Julie really enjoyed seeing how excited the kids were Christmas morning. They said it was fun to see the magic of Christmas to little kids, which is easy to forget when you don't have little ones around.

We had a big delicious lunch of ham, funeral potatoes, rolls, greenbeans casserole, jello, relish tray and a yummy ice cream dessert. It was scrumpshish if i do say so myself.

We played with our new toys all during the break and pulled around the sled with the 4 wheeler. I even talked Casey into letting me pull him on the sled too. Boy that was a sight to see. The kids sure enjoyed having Grandpa here for a while. Cooper found in Grandpa a good buddy that he wasn't going to let leave. He followed him around everywhere saying ganpa. While dad was here he also taught Cooper to say, "you bettcha". Which Cooper says, "cha cha". Its the cutest thing. Cooper sure is tring to get big and is so much fun to have around, he is just so full of life.
